Semana Santa 2026 in Andalusia

From 29 March to 5 April, Andalusia will once again be immersed in the traditions of Semana Santa. During this special week, impressive processions, music and centuries-old customs fill the streets of towns and cities.
From Sunday 29 March to Sunday 5 April, Spain celebrates Semana Santa, the traditional Holy Week leading up to Easter. During this period, Christians commemorate the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus.

In Andalusia in particular, Semana Santa is a remarkable event. Throughout the week, impressive processions move through the streets of towns and cities, organised by centuries‑old religious brotherhoods. Large platforms carrying religious statues – known as tronos or pasos – are carried through the streets by groups of bearers, accompanied by the sound of drums and brass bands.
The combination of tradition, music and devotion creates a unique atmosphere year after year. For both locals and visitors, Holy Week is one of the most special and impressive weeks of the year in southern Spain. A few tips for the province of Málaga:
