Over the past few years, I have found that the Belgian dark winter months have an increasingly harsh effect on my mood. But after doing a job at the last World Cup in Quatar, the contrast between the sunny desert weather and the wet cold Belgian weather was too much. I decided to investigate whether a place in the south of Spain was a viable option and, by chance, through the Second Home Andalusia website, ended up in the village of Sedella.

For a long time I had a dream: if only I could one day buy an apartment on the beach in sunny Andalusia.... By the end of last year I had gathered the money and the guts, and a phone call to Marita and Jan from Second Home Andalusia was the next step to discuss with them what it should look like and where it should be located. We sent some houses, places, thoughts back and forth, a wish list came up and in March I went to see an apartment with Martin.

Beginning 2023, I saw a post on Facebook about Second Home Andalusia. That appealed to me and I sent a message. The very same day I received a response from Martin de Vries. He suggested a quick phone call. Without any expectations, I started talking to Martin and immediately there was a click and trust. We decided to go ahead with them and we haven't regretted that for a moment.

"WE'VE GOT IT! Villa Amores" shouted Jan van der Marel, March 2022, through the phone just as we were sitting in a watery sun on the beach of Noordwijk and sighed; 'Wonder when 'they' call :-). Three days later, we were at Málaga airport back to Amsterdam when, just before checking in, we heard that the house was ours.
