This month we would like to introduce 'our' Caroline a truly valuable team member of Second Home Andalusia. Her days are filled with various tasks and last minute things to ensure clients receive the best service when buying or selling their second home in Andalucia. She is happy to introduce herself.

How did you end up in Andalusia?
In 2001 myself and my husband Malcolm (co-owner of Second Home Andalusia) made the exciting decision to make a complete lifestyle change and relocate to Andalusia, from Suffolk in the UK, to start a new adventure in our lives.

We had worked in Suffolk for 20 years in the hospitality industry managing a hotel and restaurant and eventually running our own successful country pub and restaurant business. This experience was invaluable in setting up our business here in Spain with the intention of working in the tourism sector and basing ourselves within this beautiful and natural environment.

What does your week look like?
My working week is split between office administration, property searches and viewings with clients. We also look after a number of holiday rentals for our house owners.

For you, what makes this work so enjoyable?
It is so rewarding to help our clients ,who come from all over Europe, to find their perfect property. Our property searches takes us all over the Axarquia and beyond, so we are also constantly discovering new areas ourselves of this beautiful region.

If you could give a prospective buyer a few tips, what would they be?
In order to focus your search, do as much research into your preferred area and location as possible. Decide on the type of property that is suitable for your needs but be ready to compromise. Sometimes it is not possible to tick all the boxes. Most important of all, work with a trusted lawyer who can guide you through the buying process and check that all of the legal paperwork is order so that your dreamhouse does not become a problem after you have bought it.
