Questions about the housing market in La Axarquía
This month, we asked Marita some questions about what she noticed in the housing market in the region of La Axarquía.
1. In some European countries, we are currently dealing with an overstrained property market. It is difficult for many people to buy a house in their own country at the moment. Do you see this reflected in the Spanish housing market? And how?
We have definitely seen an increase in the number of clients in the last year but fortunately we are not yet experiencing the same frenzy as in other European countries. Until now we are still managing to find suitable houses for our clients.
2. How would you describe the housing market at the moment? Is it a market where prices are rising or falling?
Due to the increase in interested buyers offset to a degree by the departure of British homeowners primarily as a result of Brexit restrictions , supply and demand remain somewhat in balance, although there is upward movement in the price. In addition, we see that the desire to find a house in typical Andalusian style is outstripping supply, with the result that prices for this type of house have risen considerably in recent months.
3. How do you expect the market to develop in the coming months?
If we are to believe the banks and other 'experts', people will continue to want to buy a house 'under the sun', even though inflation and interest rates are going up and, of course, we have the uncertainty of what is going to happen in and around Ukraine. We see that clients still know how to find us, because perhaps it is precisely because of the developments mentioned that they want to chase their dream now.
4. What tip would you like to give to people who are currently considering buying a house in Andalucia?
Prepare yourself well for the type of property you are looking for, in which region and what the house or flat should offer you. Is it meant to be a holiday home or do you want to live there permanently in the future? Do you prefer the liveliness of a (coastal) town or would you like to live in the countryside? And above all, come to experience the atmosphere of this diverse region, drive around in the mountains and along the coastline to feel what it would be like to live there. In many cases, the choices then become much clearer and we can search more specifically for you to find the right house, in the best location.
