My own townhouse in Torrox Pueblo
I have been to many places in southern Europe and I have also visited Spain many times. Over the years, Andalusia emerged more and more as a favorite location. But the move to actually buy a house began in December 2019 after a phone call with my old colleague Marita from Second Home Andalusia. She could immediately explain to me how buying a house in Spain works and what matters I had to take into account, like costs but also legal and tax aspects She also painted a good picture of the region; although I was familiar with Andalusia, I didn't know Axarquía, the beaches and the beautiful hinterland, very well.
The next step was a visit to Southern Spain in February 2020, together with my daughter Fleur. To get a first impression of the Axarquía region and to visit a number of houses in various villages that the team of Second Home Andalusia had selected based on my wishes. At the end of the day we fell in love of a picturesque town house in Torrox Pueblo. Everything met our wishes; the location of the house (quiet but in a lively authentic Spanish village), 5 minutes walk from the center with various restaurants, the location of the village (less than 5 kilometers from the sea with various beaches and chiringuitos), the atmosphere and size of the house (built in 1940 with enough sleeping places and equipped with all comforts) but we especially fell in love with the 2! fantastic roof terraces!
Even though I had agreed otherwise with myself (visit Axarquía at least 2 times and first return to the Netherlands before considering a purchase at all), we immediately made an offer the next day and the 'long' process of negotiation started. Not because we wanted to squeeze everyt last drop out of it ???? but because the sellers were a bit indecisive and, unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic started. But in September 2020 everything fell into place and was I the happy owner of the Town house in Torrox Pueblo. The road to this buy is perfectly supervised by Marita and her husband Jan. From the moment of the first negotiation, the private contract and finally to the transfer at the notary.
They have also provided a fantastic contractor who has built an outdoor kitchen and shower on the roof terraces. Since April 2021 everything is fine and I have been able to enjoy my wonderful place in Axarquía for a whole month.
Thank you so much Marita and Jan. The fact that I can now travel to Axarquía regularly is entirely thanks to you!
