Our Spanish casita in the Torrox Mountains
A while ago we started looking for a second home in Spain, just to enjoy the wonderful climate and escape from the worries of everyday life at home in the Netherlands. After checking out several regions it became clear that the Axarquía in Andalusia would be our aim. This region has it all, the mild climate, the tranquility, the mountains as well as the beaches and the, even in wintertime, lively villages on the coast.
During our search on the internet, we came across property finders Second Home Andalusia and got in touch with Malcolm. In emails and phone calls he explained to us how their company operates and which services they can provide. To get to know each other and have a better idea what was available on the market, he suggested we should come to Spain to go on the house hunt together.
And so, we did! Malcolm assisted us all the way with our search and that wasn’t so easy for we had quite a wish list: we wanted a home with sea view, close to a village and not too far a drive on a country road. Furthermore he house also had to be built in Spanish style. From experience Malcolm added a few crucial requirements like availability of electricity and water supply, a good location and convenient access roads. Having discussed all subjects, we completed a shortlist and together with Malcolm and an estate agent we started the search for our dream home.
The second property we visited ticked a lot of the boxes and we both got a good feeling about it, and so did Malcolm. The location was perfect, a 15 minutes’ drive from Torrox from which only 5 minutes on a dirt track and the house was well constructed with a lot of Spanish details, a house with a soul. It seemed we found our perfect dream home, however… it had no sea view! Although we went on with our search the house stuck like glue in our minds, it almost met our wish list completely. After long deliberation, several talks with Malcolm and some more detailed viewings of the house we finally decided to buy this house to make it our dream home. The magnificent mountain view and the proximity of the sea, only 15 minutes away, compensated for the lack of sea view.
So now we came to the next phase, the purchase of our house. In a professional way Malcolm assisted us from starting with an explanation of the Spanish law regarding the purchase procedure, the DAFO, obtaining a NIE no. up to the completion at the notary’s office and key transfer.
We would like to say a big thanks to Second Home Andalusia for accomplishing the purchase in a smooth and competent way. Thanks to them we are able to fully enjoy our casita!
