Casa Carlos, Triana
Overview
NEW: Casa Carlos is a generous campo home in Triana with 4 bedrooms (2 down- and 2 upstairs), 2 bathrooms (one on the 1. and one on the 2. floor), a bright living room with wood burner, a nice size kitchen with pantry and, as a good extra, a large roof terrace with far-reaching views of the surrounding landscape. The spacious front terrace offers lovely open views across the hills, while to the right side lies a flat piece of land where a pool used to be. The fully fenced garden includes a few outbuildings, a chicken coop a vegetable plot and many fruit trees.
The Spanish owners built the house around 30 years ago as a family home and have always maintained it with care. In recent years it has been used less often, which led them to decide to sell. The property is solidly built and features terracotta floors, aluminium windows with insect screens and shutters, and decorative wooden interior doors.
The house can be reached by three different routes; the easiest access is via a paved and partly concreted mountain road, with only the final 425 metres being a well-maintained dirt track. The villages of Los Romanes and La Viñuela are just a 5-minute drive away, offering supermarkets, bakeries, medical care, and a good choice of bars and restaurants.
The area is perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling or canoeing on Lake Viñuela. Despite its rural setting, the property is only 20 minutes from the coast at Torre del Mar and 45 minutes from Málaga.
DESCRIPTION outside
From the mountain road you turn onto a short driveway that leads to the double entrance gate and the main access to the house, with space to park several cars. From here, you immediately enjoy the open views over the rolling hills towards the sea. To the left, a staircase leads to a small front garden and a handy storage room (approx. 3.60 x 1.50 m).
A wide terrace wraps around the house and on the garden side are a few citrus trees. The entrance is around the corner, with a pergola (approx. 2 x 2 m) and a sun awning providing shade by the front door. Further along is a built-in outdoor kitchen with barbecue — ideal for relaxed summer evenings.
Opposite the front door is the entrance to the garden. On the right-hand side lies an enclosed area (approx. 7.50 x 10 m) where the former pool once stood.
Walking further into the garden, you find several terraced areas planted with fruit trees and bushes leading down to the barranco, the end of the plot. The garden is currently used mainly by the family for personal enjoyment, but there’s plenty of space to expand or add your own ideas.
On the right side of the garden are a few outbuildings: a chicken coop with outdoor run, a workshop, a small casita and a vegetable garden with a wall full of pitaya (dragon fruit) plants. A gate provides access to the lower lane, and at the very bottom there is a double gate that allows access for larger vehicles.
An irrigation system is installed across the entire plot and is currently used for the existing plants, but can easily be extended.
The property is fully fenced and connected to both mains water and a private well used for irrigation. There is also a large water deposit of about 24,000 litres.
DESCRIPTION inside
Through the front door you enter the bright and spacious living/dining room (7.30 x 4.20 m) with ceiling fan, a corner fireplace and the central support column as a decorative feature. In the right corner is the entrance to the bathroom (1.80 x 2.10 m), and next to it the fitted kitchen with wooden cabinets and a window overlooking the terrace (4.30 x 1.85 m). To the left of the kitchen door is a useful pantry (2.00 x 0.80 m).
To the left of the front door are two good-sized bedrooms (each 3.60 x 2.70 m). Opposite the entrance, a staircase leads to the upper floor, where you’ll find a spacious landing (3.00 x 2.40 m) and a smaller hallway (2.50 x 1.50 m) that opens onto the large roof terrace.
Upstairs are another two bedrooms (each 2.90 x 2.60 m) and, opposite the stairs, a large bathroom with bathtub (2.00 x 2.40 m).
The generous L-shaped roof terrace (5.45 x 8.20 m and 7.50 x 2.15 m) is one of the highlights of this property. From here, you can enjoy 360° views across mango and olive groves, the surrounding hills, the Mediterranean Sea and, in the distance, the peak of La Maroma and the Sierras Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama.
Throughout the house are decorative wooden interior doors and aluminium window frames with insect screens. Downstairs the windows have louvred shutters and upstairs they feature shutters and wrought-iron grilles.
