RESERVED: Casa del Limón is a well-maintained, rural house, full of character and details that are usually found in original cortijos such as traditional floor tiles, alcoves, brick seating areas and wooden details in the walls etc. In addition, the current owner has given it a modern, creative twist by using many wooden - and deep black - elements such as aluminum window frames with shutters and as a color accent on the walls in the kitchen and guest apartment. In the house itself there are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and in addition there is an independent guest apartment slightly lower down than the swimming pool which gives it great rental potential.
There is a spacious covered terrace at the front where you can enjoy a drink or al-fresco dining in the shade. The gently sloping plot is full of plants, shrubs and fruit trees including lemon, orange, tangerine and avocado.
Casa del Limón is easily accessible and is located just before the village of Canillas de Aceituno, one of the attractive white villages at the foot of the Sierra Tejeda and Almijara Natural Park, a unique area for hikers and other mountain sports enthusiasts. You can even climb to a height of 2079 meters on La Maroma, the region's highest mountain. From the heart of the village starts the new hiking trail 'El Saltillo' between Canillas de Aceituno and Sedella, where you cross one of the three highest and longest suspension bridges in Spain.
In the lively village, you can find everything you need for everyday living. There are several restaurants and bars where you can go for a delicious meal or a drink on the terrace. Within 25 minutes you can reach Vélez-Málaga and the beach of Torre del Mar via the main road, winding through the beautiful countryside. The city of Málaga and the airport are a 45-minute drive away and Granada, plus the Sierra Nevada ski resort, can be reached in about 2 hours.
INTERIOR DESCRIPTION
From the covered terrace you step through a large glass door into the spacious living room (34m2), on the right side the lounge with fireplace and on the left side the dining area. Adjacent, you walk through to the rustic kitchen, with the modern twist of color, beams and shelves and other nice details (8.25m2).
Returning to the entrance again, you walk through a hallway opposite the kitchen (approx. 6x1m) to a spacious bedroom (3.4x3.4m), and then to a separate guest toilet, a bathroom with shower (1.6x3.4m) and next to it a storage room (1.4x3.4m) which houses an extra fridge-freezer.
Back in the lounge, stairs take you upstairs to the spacious 2nd double bedroom with kitchenette, ensuite bathroom and air conditioning (25.8m2 incl terrace). From here there is access to the private terrace with garden views that can also be reached via the parking area. The independent entrance gives this room rental potential.
OUTSIDE DESCRIPTION
The paved entrance to the spacious parking area is reached directly from the mountain road (MA-125) to Canillas de Aceituno and has room for several cars. From here, you walk between flowerbeds and shrubs via stairs to the covered terrace of the house, but you can also go directly, keeping to the right, to the terrace of the bedroom on the 1st floor of the house or, keeping to the left, via stairs that go the guest house.
The large terrace at the entire front of the house, of which 15m2 is covered, offers beautiful views over the pool, the valley, towards the sea and the mountains. It is a lovely place to relax, have a nice outdoor meal or a drink.
A few steps down from the upper terrace, you come to the large swimming pool (3.5x8 m) with a spacious sun terrace around it (approx. 40m2). Below is the pool room (7.25m2) with the pump and equipment for the pool and some space for storage.
Keeping to the left by the pool, you come to the little garden and covered terrace of the guest house. From there, a staircase goes up to the left to return to the parking area.
The whole house is surrounded by a well-tended rough garden with fruit trees, almond and olive trees and bougainvillea, jasmine and oleanders. The house has recently been fitted with solar panels and top-quality aluminium double-glazed doors and windows with tapaluces (shutters).
GUEST HOUSE
Via the covered terrace or directly from the parking area, steps take you to the casita/guest house (20m2) with a nice covered terrace at the front (12m2) and inside a self-contained apartment with kitchen, spacious bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The owner's penchant for matte black gives this place a hotel chic-like feel.
