Overview

SOLD: Finca la Cencerra (meaning sound of the goat bells) used to be an old ruin and around 20 years ago has been lovingly restored by the owners. The property is brimming with rustic details; the bathrooms and kitchen have traditional Moroccan tiles giving it an authentic feel including handmade terracotta floor tiles inside and out as well as beamed ceilings wooden windows and doors et cetera.

The garden is very well established with Mediterranean planting including a beautiful date palm and there are various areas to sit and enjoy the stunning mountain and sea views as well as wining and dining ‘al-fresco’.

The land has been very well cared for by José a local farmer who ploughs it in the traditional way using his two mules. The land includes an olive grove on gently sloping land, as well as a vineyard at the back of the property with moscatel grapes used for making the local wine, ‘vino del terreno’ there are also fig trees, almonds, pomegranate and lemon trees. There is a ‘parra’ (grapevine) at the front of the property providing much needed shade in the summer months as well as beautiful grapes!

The mountain range of the sierras de tejeda almijara y alhama with La Maroma, the highest mountain in the region (2.079m), is on the doorstep hence offering a great variety of walking opportunities including the new hiking trail ‘El Saltillo’ between Canillas de Aceituno and Sedella,where you will cross one of three highest suspension bridges in Spain.

Finca la Cencerra is reached via a well-maintained dirt track off the mountain road and is around a five-minute drive from the traditional Moorish white village of Sedella. The gated driveway has space for several vehicles, from where we can enter the property via a wooden door into a hallway, turning right giving access to the main accommodation.

We enter into the cozy lounge area (15m2) with rustic shelving and a log burner and a window, looking out on the pool terrace. To the right there is an original archway taking us into the kitchen/dining area (15.75m2) with a door leading out to the terrace. From the kitchen there is a small hallway giving access to the master bedroom (15.35m2) with built-in wardrobes, guest bedroom (13.10m2) with French doors leading onto the terrace and between the bedrooms a family bathroom (4.40m2) with full length bath and overhead shower.

Back to the main hallway, we take a right which leads us to the spacious, airy sala 18.85m2 (third bedroom or can be used as a lounge) with attractive wooden storage cupboards, log burner for the winter months and a bathroom en suite (5.10m2) with full length bath and overhead shower. There are French doors leading out to the pool terrace.  

At the end of the hallway there is also a handy store cupboard.
