How it started
In 2001, my wife Caroline and I made the move from Suffolk in the UK to Andalusia, after twenty years in hospitality running a hotel, restaurant and eventually our own country pub. We'd already bought a small village property to renovate, mainly as a rental investment, but along the way we fell in love with Sedella, the Axarquía and the Spanish way of life.
Within months we'd sold our UK house and bought another renovation project in the village, this time as our full-time home. Our Spanish adventure had begun.
Once that first house was renovated, we started a property management and maintenance business, caring for holiday rentals and managing construction and renovation projects from our new base.
Knowing the right people
Around this time, we met Marita van Wijngaarden, whose rental property we looked after while she and her husband Jan were back in the Netherlands. They had recently bought a house themselves and noticed that the Andalusian real estate market was growing and needed a more professional, personal approach.
Together we realised how important it is to work with people who truly know the local market, rules and legal aspects, and who have their ears to the ground. With everything we'd learned, we teamed up with Marita to start Second Home Andalusia. Since then, we have helped many clients find their own piece of Andalusia.
Our Services
We have no shop window and no long list of houses for sale. As Property Finders, we believe in personal attention and tailor-made searches, always working on request through a proven method.
Every team member has lived and worked in this region for years, speaks the local language or languages and brings their own expertise. It is the perfect mix to guide you through each step. Since the sale is really just the beginning, we also help with after-sales through our network of trusted local agents, legal advisers, administration offices, builders and village old-timers who know everyone and everything.
Focus area
Second Home Andalusia focuses on the traditional white villages of Canillas de Aceituno, Sedella, Salares and Cómpeta and the surrounding countryside around Lake Viñuela, plus coastal towns such as Benajarafe, Torre del Mar, Torrox and Nerja.
